I want my students to start the school year out with a binder, a pencil pouch, and folders. I want them to have a sense of pride in their school supplies and be able to keep them organized. This will help them to gain confidence in their skills while we progress throughout the year and give them a sense of control that many desperately need.
I also have books that we can reference when we will inevitably struggle with our SEL skills. Some that are geared towards the student and some that will help me to be the best teacher I can be. I also chose a lot of hands-on learning experiences for them. Dice games for math, science experiments, and science lessons that we desperately need since we have little help with our curriculum in this subject.
