I teach K-5 students with varying abilities and needs. My students are noticeably more engaged in their learning when activities involving games are involved. Learning should be fun!
I plan to use these math and reading games, math cards with power pens, whiteboards, and timers to reinforce previously learned concepts by providing enjoyable practice of skills. I will use these tools in my classroom, during centers, and during small group instruction. My desired learning outcome is that these activities will foster retention of academic skills, a love for learning, self-confidence, and independent learning.
I have always seen a need for differentiated instruction and reinforcement based on students' needs and interests. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a heightened need for these practices to help increase learning and bridge gaps at each student's current levels.
