The importance of reading and being read to at an early age helps to expand vocabulary, knowledge in different fields such as history and science and phonemic awareness.
The students that have been read to have an easier time learning to read on their own. Helping young readers to use their imagination and creativity helps strengthen social and emotional health especially with the pandemic when young children aren't able to get out and socialize with other children.
Reading at a young age develops a love for reading that will go through life with these young children.
