Whenever my students use manipulatives or math tools during a lesson, there is an improved attitude toward math. Using these hands-on materials will help my students visualize their math equations.
There are many times I pull students back to my kidney bean table for small group instruction. It would be SO helpful to have an additional whiteboard so I can make the instruction more visible to all the students back at the table with me.
It is helpful for students to have different colors when we highlight and annotate reading and math problems. Having different colors to keep ideas organized has proven to be very helpful, however, the students do not have access to a variety of colors (and markers run out quickly).
With all the new math manipulatives, I would like students to be able to access them and put them away in an organized manner so we can keep them nice and in good shape for future students. These new organizing crates and bins will be essential in keeping our classroom clutter free. We have a smaller room and every bit of space is so important.
I have a few students who are really motivated by earning opportunities to play inside board games. I would love to add these to my classroom to help relax and reduce stress in students, while providing them a fun opportunity to earn a reward. Also, it will build a team oriented environment and build friendships.
