This will be the first time the high school will have a sewing class in about 10 years. The sewing class has been started once again because of the enthusiasm and many requests of students in the area longing to learn to sew and create. Many of the sewing supplies have been lost to borrowers over the past 10 years or are in disrepair.
These resources will help my students offset the expenses of having to buy their own materials for their sewing projects.
With the economic downturns of the last year and a half many families are struggling and don't have much money for the extra school expenses that crop up. The fabric will make it so all students can complete at least one project without having to buy fabric. The extra supplies like fabric shears and pins will make class sharing easier on all students and cut down the amount of supplies students will have to bring from home to operate for the whole semester.
Students whose strength lies in hands on abilities like sewing have lost many opportunities to shine and learn with Covid. Help them get a better start and discover and develop more of their skills. .
