In my art classes, I would like for my students to experience different materials and methods of creating 3D art. The Coil Vessel Project Lesson is to help students learn about vessel forms. They will create the vessels using coil building method. Students will learn how to use coils in a unique way, learn to use texture in their forms and design with coils. Once students get the chance to build with their hands and sculpt, they are very interested and excited for this lesson. Something about molding and shaping clay with their hands makes them feel successful. I want them to have the opportunity to experience 3D art-making.
The Mixed Media Layered Project involves watercolor painting and technique practice. Students create a reflective portrait or self-portrait of themself or of someone that is important to them. This involves layer a drawing on a laminator sheet over a watercolor painted background. In the art room closet, we have some palettes that are very much used up from previous years. The blue on most of the palettes is gone, I've had to have students use more than one palette because of the missing colors in some of them. I would like for my students to have a brand new class pack of watercolor paint. Please help provide for these two awesome projects.
