Learning the flow of genetic information can be a complex and confusing concept for high school students. It starts with DNA replication, then the transcription to mRNA, ending with translation into proteins. These are microscopic processes that students have a difficult time visualizing. The Flow of Genetic Information kits will provide my students with multiple hands-on activities to help deepen their understanding of these concepts.
Manipulatives actively engage students in discovery during the learning process. I plan on using the model kits with my AP Biology students but will also share them with the Honors Biology teacher as well. The kits will be able to be used for many years and by hundreds of different students.
