The very goal of this project is to not only congratulate seniors for their academic excellence but also celebrate them for wanting to pursue higher education. I want to give my students something to be excited about - something that they can show all their friends and spread the college-going culture here in RHS. Most importantly, I want my students to focus on their classes, not their inability to buy basic school supplies. Many of my students are extremely low-income and do not have the financial ability to buy supplies to succeed in college. The resources I chose for this project will not only give my students the necessary supplies to excel at their respective universities, it will also help give them a sense of belonging - a sense that they truly deserve to be on a university campus. The backpacks, binder, notebooks, pens, and highlighters will serve my students greatly in their journey through higher education. Some students have never owned or used technology such as I pads/ tablets and introducing them to these now common technologies can be really beneficial to their growth. These resources will lessen the financial burden that many of these students have, which will subsequently allow them to focus their attention on their academics.
