Brian breaks are an effective way to help students refocus in class. The goal is to help students focus better during class instruction and help to build a positive interaction while cultivating a positive classroom environment. Recently, some researchers have proven that physical activity in a school setting has helped to improve the students’ cognitive abilities and attitudes, and subsequently, their academic performance [3], which may be lacking in home environments (Rizal, Hussein, Mawar S. Hajar, Ayu S. Muhamad, Yee C. Kueh, and Garry Kuan. 2019). Students spent over a year outside of the classroom setting so they are having to get reacquainted with classroom expectations and procedures as well as learning how to get along with classmates. We have also seen an increase in undesired student behavior in the classroom and we are hoping to shift this focus to a more positive school and classroom experience. These materials will be used to help students do just that. They will be building positive classroom culture through team and class building activities. They will also be involved in brain breaks that help them to listen, concentrate, and be attentive all while having fun.
