"I can keep it?!..." This, and comments like it are what I hear every day as students thumb through my book box that sits outside my classroom door.
Regardless of grade-level, the surprise in their voice and shock on their faces is the best form of gratitude that a teacher could ever hope for.
The materials for this project will help ensure that I can keep my book box filled with books that students can call their own, encourage reading at home, and hopefully get books into the hands of students, who may not otherwise have a book that they can call their own.
