The items I have requested will help the special education students I work with on a daily basis. They will help guide the students to learn calming strategies. The items requested will help with our students' emotional learning that so many of them struggle with after the pandemic. Many of our students were given tasks that were far above what an elementary student should be asked to do. They need to learn to calm down and take some deep breaths.
So many of our students lost a year of handwriting practice with Distance Learning, so I have also requested some pencil grips. Much of what they completed was online and involved them typing but not the fine motor skills needed for writing. The pencil grips will help with those struggles.
I have also requested items to help students who feel the need to constantly be moving. These items will help those students to no longer be continuously called out to sit still and they will be able to learn new coping strategies for their need to move.
