My first-year classroom is in desperate need of basic and problem-solving supplies. Each of these items helps solve a problem that has become apparent in my classroom since the beginning of the year. I am excited to have these tools to help reach a generation of learners who have been hit hard by COVID-related educational restrictions.
I am beyond excited about the magnetic whiteboard for my classroom. This will allow me to easily post up instructional materials for classroom resources. With the shut down of schools from COVID, students need as many visual representations to help them learn. The individual whiteboards will help students individually connect to the 5th-grade curriculum.
The graphic novels and film canisters will help supplement my social studies and science curriculum. Due to COVID-related challenges, more of my students are reading below grade level. Graphic novels will allow students to connect with history at their reading level. The film canisters will also help to engage apathetic learners as part of my STEM curriculum.
The mirrors are part of a project to help students become mindful of who is responsible for their learning and what qualities they want to develop as students.
The light shades will help create an environment that will help reduce stress in the classroom. There are no windows in my classroom so this would help bring some nature back into the classroom as well as diffuse the light for optimum learning.
