Many of my students rely on sensory regulation tools to help them stay focused in the classroom. To help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 in the classroom, I am hoping to create sensory regulation kits that students can check out to use in the classroom. Students truly depend on regulation tools as a way to calm anxiety, receive sensory input, or get some movement. For autistic students, this is important for learning. This project will be essential for my students because it will help them stay calm and focus. Our school has a sensory regulation room, which students won't be able to use this year as a safety precaution. I am hoping this project will help more students meet their sensory needs safely.
