Currently, our kindergarten and 1st-grade playgrounds have large sandboxes but no tools or toys to be used in the space. This project will give kindergarten and 1st-grade students at a Title I school toys to use while playing together at recess.
The opportunity to play in the sand with tools can increase fine motor development and sensory integration. Free play while at recess is crucial for social development as well as other cognitive skills. This project will provide sturdy shovels, castle molds, trucks, a sand spinner, and a bag to organize all of the sand toys.
