My students aspire to create digital media that will speak to their audience: our entire student body. As of right now, they must project their voices from the film set to the IPad that is stationed across the room. With the help of this new technology, they can speak straight into the microphone and transform themselves from the middle school students they are into the news anchors they watch on tv.
In addition to the ability to have their voices heard, these 21st-century tools will allow them to immerse themselves in the editing process. Each student is already equipped with a Chromebook but they find it difficult to hear their projects when other students in the class also have their sound playing. The headphones on this list will allow them to take control of their film segments as well as record their individual voiceovers.
It has been such an inspiration to see how these students transitioned from creating news segments in distance learning to in-person. Seeing their personalities shine on screen is one of the reasons why I love my job. By giving them the tools to succeed in this class, I believe it will fuel their passion for learning and creating in all aspects of their lives.
