As we transition into in-person learning, the curriculum and materials my students use are still online. While students were learning online during Covid it was often difficult to provide the special education supports they required to be successful in the that setting. Many students missed out on instruction and had difficulty with an online learning platform. Now that we have returned to full in person learning, the students still require support with navigating the mix of online classwork with in person learning. It is difficult to provide adequate instruction in support without having a device myself. With the Surface Pro, I am able to interact with the class content and be able to write and draw over the materials using the touch screen. I can also easily make up tools and supports using Google Suite. For example, I can easily draw diagrams for my visual learners, and record lectures for my auditory learners. Having access to these tools benefits my students because it allows me to provide differentiated instruction and make accommodations at that moment instead of creating handmade materials and using multiple devices.
Since I am changing classrooms every period, the Surface Pro is lightweight and convenient and allows me to switch quickly between content areas.
