Physical education is an extremely important part of a student's elementary school experience. I want to make sure my students have the best possible chance of being successful once they leave my program. If my project is funded, I will make sure all students get a chance to properly use all of the equipment that is received. The basketball hoops will be used by all students grades K-5. The primary students (K-2nd) will use the mini hoops to help them learn the basics of shooting. Having a hoop that is lower to the ground makes it easier for students to make a basket. The mini basketballs will also be used by primary students because the basketballs I have can be too big for some of the students hands. Students will use the basketballs to practice their dribbling, shooting and passing (which will be easier for them with a smaller ball). The scooter boards will be used by all students during my scooter board lesson. Students will learn how to maneuver around on the board which is a fantastic cardio workout. Students will also play games like scooter board basketball and scooter board tag. By getting this equipment, students will have a better chance for success when they participate in the lesson while also enjoying participating in outside, which is a big need after having to distance learn for a whole school year. During the lesson I will use the new equipment to allow students to achieve the following Physical Education Standards: (1.2.4-Demonstrate safe practices while participating in physical activities.) (2.2.1- Recognize the basic elements of movement.) (2.2.2- Demonstrate basic strategies in physical activities.) (2.5.3- Explain the importance of safety rules and procedures for self and others in physical activities.)
