Students have faced a great number of stressors in the last year and a half. They have been socially isolated, worried about Covid, and now, they are overwhelmed and anxious about being back in the school environment.
A Calm Down Kit will help my students with anxiety and uncomfortable emotions. Students can use the stress balls, or one of the simple puzzles, stretchy strings, or fidget toys as a distraction and a mental break. They can take a minute to color or journal their thoughts, to maybe share later with a teacher or the counselor. And the liquid bubblers help students with mindfulness, an important coping skill.
By addressing those emotional needs, we are getting students quickly back on track to focusing on learning. It's a win-win situation!
