The lockers and locks will be used for the students to develop the skills necessary to become good employees at any job site. Our students, when finished with high school, will go into job training programs that will eventually lead to jobs in the community. Our classes focus on those skills that will help them be able to integrate into any job in the community. One of the biggest obstacles that our students face is being able to keep track of their personal items during the school and work day. I believe these lockers and locks with the keys will help the students develop a routine of placing their items in a designated space and be able to keep track of their personal items independently. For some of our students with challenges in the areas of motor skills, the locks and keys will help develop those motor skills that will be important in the community.
I have added the scanner/copier to ensure that my students are able to apply for the necessary programs after graduation. I also am in constant contact with parents. The parents need documents scanned for Social Security and Desert Regional Center to make sure that their child receives the necessary resources.
