As a new teacher, a majority of my classroom library books have been donated, were left behind by previous tenants of my rooms, or picked up at yard sales. While there are some great titles I've added over the years, this rag-tag collection is outdated and falling apart.
Over the last two years I have created a place for students to leave book recommendations of titles they love - whether they are newly discovered or old favorites. These books have moved students to tears, taken them on wild adventures of the imagination, and taught them invaluable life lessons. I want to make these student voices and reading experiences actionable by using them to build a classroom library with intention.
My hope is to create an opportunity to spark interest or build imagination, if not ignite a passion for the love of reading.
