I am requesting a printer, guided reading fiction book sets and informational text to close the achievement gap! The COVID pandemic along with school closures has dramatically effected student achievement, especially in reading. Providing students with guided reading is an effective strategy that will help students strategically focus on the specific reading skills they need to show growth, success at their grade level, and close the achievement gap created by the pandemic.
Small group instruction is essential to help close the widening achievement gap that the pandemic has caused and providing students with the right learning environment will be key to their success!
My project will provide students with flexible cushioned seat to support body movements to keep them engaged, book bins for easy access to text while we reading in a small group, and high interest book level sets to focus on literature circles and close reading. A printer would also support printing engaging colorful activities, anchor charts, and printable learning games focusing on the texts they are reading.
In addition, the books I have selected will help the students in grade 4, specifically focusing on the Reading Literature standards- R.L.4.1, R.L.4.2, R.L 4.3, as well as the Reading Informational standards- R.I.4.1, R.I.4.2, and R.I.4.3, which focus on asking and answering questions in a text and being able to retell stories and identify main ideas.
