Distance Education during COVID changed almost everything about my speech therapy sessions. At first, the changes were challenging diving into the unknown. As time went on and online speech therapy sessions became the norm, I discovered some great digital resources to use in my therapy sessions. Now that we are back to in-person learning, students are back on track with making progress with their speech and language skills. I am able to provide my students so much more support and cues while we are in-person. Nothing beats being back in the buildings with students!
Although being back is great, I have noticed myself looking for ways to bring some of those valuable, engaging, and enriching digital materials to the speech therapy table. The online materials are great supports to in-person speech therapy and are exciting for students to engage with. Having the ability to bring those online tools to the table with a laptop will help students continue to make progress towards their speech goals while staying engaged and motivated to do their best.
