Due to COVID, my students have many academic and social holes that I am working towards filling. By choosing to donate to this project, many of the materials will be used to help them learn the alphabet and the sounds the letters make (RF.K.3), read CVC words (R.FK .2d) and sight words (RF.K.3c), and eventually read on their own (RF.K.4), which are major goals in kindergarten. I will be able to use the pocket chart stand, mobile whiteboard and foam letters during learning stations which is one of the most important times in our day where we get to independently work on reading skills.
Young learners need constant reinforcement and independent practice of skills in order to become proficient readers. The materials requested will allow this practice to take place. Many of my students don't have access to learning materials at their homes, so my classroom fills that gap for them.
