These resources will help my students practice foundational literacy skills, an area of concern according to the data received from our Fall MAPS assessment. Multiple hands-on activities that will encourage collaboration amongst students as well as individual practice will be provided by these materials when they use them during our literacy center time as well as during small group instruction. These hands-on activities will help make both teaching and learning fun and successful for students after being at home during the past year. These resources will also help keep materials organized and accessible for my students. These materials will help address the following Nevada Academic Content Standards:
RF.K.1d, RF.K.2a, RF.K.2d, RF.K.2e, RF.K.3a, RF.K.3b,RF.K.3c. Through addressing these standards with these materials my students will be able to: recognize and name all upper and lowercase letters, isolate and produce the initial, medial and final sounds in CVC words, recognize and produce rhyming words, make new words by adding or substituting individual sounds in simple words, demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter sound by producing the primary sound for every consonant, associate long and short sounds for the five major vowels, and read common high frequency words by sight. The intended outcome is for my students to increase their MAPS Literacy scores as well as become beginning readers, all while having fun and developing a love for Literacy!
