I am requesting resources to help my students' mental health during this difficult time. The impact of school closures and distance learning is becoming more apparent in my student's behavior. There has been an increase in stress and anxiety as well as a decrease in social skills. With the requested curriculum books and SEL learning games, I will be able to work with students individually and in small groups to help them develop social and emotional skills, emotional awareness, and coping strategies.
My students need continued support in the areas of social and emotional skills to help them cope with the added stressors of the pandemic. In addition to school wide lessons, small group and individual intervention the fidgets, light covers, and sound machine will help create a safe calming area on campus that all students will have access to. This space will allow me to help students learn and practice emotional awareness and emotional regulation strategies and skills. I am very excited to use these tools with my students to provide them with meaningful lessons and a safe calm down area on campus.
