Each of these supplies has a purpose. The dry erasers, dry erase markers, and whiteboard cleaner will allow students to practice math skills we are learning in class and show what they have learned as a quick check for understanding. For example, they can show the multiple strategies they have learned for multidigit multiplication. Flashcards can be used to practice basic multiplication and divisions facts students need to be successful in learning math. (Math, 4.NBT.B.5).
Spiral notebooks will be used to take notes in reading, writing, and math. Taking notes can help students remember what they are learning as well as be used for students to look back on for current and future learning. Headphones are needed to help students stay focused on their own work. These will also be used to record themselves answering questions or practicing their fluency (4.SL.4 and 4.RF.4). Coloring supplies will be used to take notes, create graphs and diagrams, and color visuals for presentations.
