Since returning to the building, I am trying to engage my students as much as possible. This project will enhance my students’ educational experience because it will provide for an inviting learning environment and the tools they need to succeed. My students will benefit directly as a result of being able to read and comprehend literary nonfiction at the high end of the grades 6-8 text complexity band independently and proficiently. As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, my students need an inviting environment where they can chart their progress, feel comfortable in the classroom and have hands-on activities to support their learning. This project will help them in this area.
Also, the materials I am requesting, books, highlighters, whiteboards, and bulletin boards, will nurture my students’ interest in reading about individual people and citing information they have learned. My hope is that these supplies will make a qualitative difference in the (culture/climate/instruction) in my classroom and create a group of lifelong learners.
