English Language Arts: Reading Standards for Literacy in Science and Technical Subjects
RST.6-8.4 Determine the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other domain-specific words
and phrases as they are used in a specific scientific or technical context relevant
to grades 6–8 texts and topics.
This project will allow the students to practice social interactive goals. After being in distance education mode for 12 months total, they have forgotten cooperative skills, of communication, play, working towards a common goal. They will develop a business plan, market their products school wide, decide which products to continue producing and which products to scrap. This will transfer into marketable skills once the students enter the workforce.
Being in a self-contained special education setting, these student's spend most of the school day together. Working on projects will assist with meeting multiple academic needs on a level that will be meaningful for the students.
