Currently, my students are struggling with reading and writing independently. Using the sentence builders will allow the students to manipulate and build their own sentences. Manipulatives have been proven to assist students on the spectrum and become successful.
We are segmenting sounds in words to better assist students with their reading. We have to be repetitive in our curriculum and customize it to meet the students' needs.
My students also struggle in math. They require visuals and manipulatives in order to process the concepts being taught. Some of my students are working on quantity, others are working on adding and subtracting within twenty, and others are working on adding and subtracting with regrouping. We are attempting to work on multiplication and place value. These are key curriculum they must know in order to progress forward and pass standardized tests.
