Manipulatives are an important part of number development. Unfortunately, one issue in particular that has developed is the inability to share school supplies between students. As a result, we do not have enough supplies to go around. The hope of my project is to acquire additional supplies so all students can have their own materials.
The use of dry erase whiteboards in the classroom are a fun way to learn math. Students enjoy using whiteboards. As a result, they are more inclined to participate in class and share their work. In addition, as the teacher, it is much easier for me to move through the classroom and check students' work since they are writing much larger on a whiteboard with bright colors. This allows me to review more students' work in the given class time as oppose to when they use paper/pencil.
Every student having their own whiteboard would be a great opportunity to help these students close the gap on math.
