Through play, I encourage my preschool students to be creative, utilizing real world materials to expand their knowledge.
We use things like blue prints, blocks, and Magna-tiles to create buildings or vehicles, and then measure, compare, sort and classify what we have created. We discuss the materials used, including shapes and color as well as how we've assembled them.
Children are encouraged to repeat patterns, copy designs and expand on them to eventually bae able to create their own. Our creations are spread through several days, so we can expand further.
