Access to good, high interest nonfiction books can be challenging within the general classroom setting--especially when multiple copies of the same book are needed. In our Literacy class students self-select nonfiction books to read in a book club format. This allows them to discuss what they've learned with their peers and exposes them to various perspectives and opinions.
The books will provide exposure to rich vocabulary and engage them in rigorous reading. Perhaps most important is that they will allow my students to learn and grow from the world around them!
