Students in my Landscape Design and DIY class are creating designs for outdoor learning spaces at our school. They have come up with formal learning spaces made of recycled wood, student lounges made from sod, and interactive school garden beds.
Using principles of design, these awesome kids are presenting to our Board of Education our plans and want to show that we have materials from multiple sources to ensure that this project happens. We want to create inclusive outdoor spaces for all students at our school!
Students are responsible for presenting the information to our Board of Education as well as creating a supplies list and maintaining a budget. This project is designed with Project Based Learning strategies giving students ownership of the process so that they can feel empowered to make change in their communities.
