These STEM activities will enrich and engage our young learners so they are prepared for our ever changing and creative world. STEM activities provide hands-on and minds-on lessons for the students. STEM makes math and science both fun and interesting. STEM bridges science, math, and reading while sparking creativity and engagement with peers while learning. STEM encourages kids to experiment, make mistakes and learn from own experiences to reach correct outcomes, rather than relying on what our teaching resources say. Critical thinking, logical analysis, inquiry and project-based learning are the keystones in STEM education.
Students in grades 2-5 will work collaboratively to target engineering standards building and revising simple models and using models to represent events and design solutions. The students will use the models to test cause and effect relationships and interactions concerning the functioning of the designed system. This is an ongoing project to meet NGSS standards.
Nevada Academic Content Standards include: Science and Engineering standards SEP-2, SEP-3, SEP-5
