In kindergarten, the students are always moving and needing something to keep them busy. The problem with that is they cant share anything in class. Each child has to have their own items and be sanitized between days. I have been working hard on trying to keep the normalcy of kindergarten. With all of these supplies, I will be able to let each student have something. After the year with Covid, I have noticed my students are below the normal skills in the fine motor. I am planning on using these fine motor activities during centers! The students love seeing new materials and the best part is that they do not even realize they are learning and growing their fine motor skills. Some standards for my items are: Safety Pe Standard 2.2.3 Identify appropriate safety practices in general space for self and others. VA:Cr1.K.1 Engage in exploration and imaginative play with materials. VA: Re7.K.1 Identify various types of art and their uses within one's personal environment. Flexible seating is so important to me and I would love to use this project to help students have the opportunity to discover what ways they learn best and how to control their own bodies.
My goal this year is to use these items to create a sense of normalcy in kindergarten for students when things seem so crazy and unsure.
