Students in the 7th Grade Utah Studies course have the opportunity to engage in several fascinating topics, not the least of which is Utah's prehistoric life. Instead of just reading about and looking at pictures of the ancient life that once called this place home, I want to give students the opportunity to hold an Allosaurus claw (Utah's state dinosaur!) or measure the length of a saber-tooth tiger fang. Physically holding a relic of the past in your own hands forms a deeper connection for students and helps them more fully engage and become excited about their academic experience overall.
