Students in CCSD struggled to fully participate in PE during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically students in self-contained programs, they returned to in person school with large deficits in physical education and social skills. Students in self-contained programs include people with autism, down syndrome and a wide range of disabilities. Students with autism struggle greatly with social/emotional skills, physical education often helps students with this deficit.
The materials in the Donors Choose project will help me provide an inclusive physical education learning environment. Creating an inclusive learning environment is beneficial for all students! The learning goal with this project is for students to participate in a variety of sports (badminton, tennis, pickle-ball, etc.) while maintaining a safe social distance. Students will build on loco-motor and object-control skills using the materials requested.
This Donors Choose project will meet the following Nevada Academic Content Standards:
*Content Standard 1.0: Demonstrate competency in motor skills, movement patterns and safety needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
*Content Standard 2.0: Apply knowledge of concepts, principles and strategies related to movement, performance and safety within physical activities.
*Content Standard 3.0: Participate regularly in physical activity.
*Content Standard 4.0: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness
