One of the favorite subjects in my Manufacturing and Automation classes is 3D printing. With the resources from this project, students in my classes will be able to take 3D models that they visualize their 3D models in Virtual Reality on the Oculus Quest before 3D printing. Students are then able to 3D print very complex models with the latest 3D printing technology using the Elegoo Mars Pro 3D printer.
Access to 3D visualization technology, like an Oculus Quest, allows students to take work from a PC that they have been completing in 2D and see what the part actually looks like in 3D, how it fits with other parts, and how whole assemblies look once assembled. (Nevada Manufacturing Performance Indicators 3.3.2 & 3.3.5)
Once students can see their model in 3D, they can then take the model to the Elegoo Mars 3D printer to fabricate it in real life. Once the part is done printing using the water washable resin, clean-up is much easier using our normal classroom sink and silicone mat to help keep the resin contained. (Nevada Manufacturing Performance Indicators 5.3.3 & 5.3.4)
In addition to the main items, we are in desperate need of some Personal Protective Equipment (in this case earplugs) for different areas of our classroom. (Manufacturing Performance Indicator 1.1.3)
