The pandemic has opened our eyes to the need for Social Emotional Learning in all grades. Kindergarten is no exception. Most of my kids have been in a pandemic since between ages 2-3. They have little understanding of social norms, citizenship traits, or understanding and regulating their own emotions. With this project, I will be able to use the resources to support my students learning of standard 1.ME.K.1, Identify Different Emotions and standard 1.ME.K.2, List ways a person shows emotions. Being able to draw and write about feelings is also vital for a Kindergartener to express their emotions. The crayons, paints, and other writing and art resources in this project will allow me to provide that outlet for my students. This not only supports the Health standards listed above, but also our writing standard W.K.2, writing/drawing to explain a topic. All of these resources will be so helpful to assist my students in managing their emotional and mental health.
