The impact of COVID is far reaching for our students and families. The resources that I am requesting will continue to enhance the Social Emotional Learning that we strive to create. Students really enjoy reading and hearing stories about social situations that they can relate to.
All of these books have been chosen with students and specific social skills in mind. The technology would help enhance some of our existing and new SEL programs and activities which encourage student engagement. The sensory items/calming timers are a great sensory and calming resource used in a few places in our building. It is my hope to add some of these to our school wellness center and additional classrooms. This is alignment with health standards for our district including: 1.PCE.4.3 Assess the importance of accepting the similarities and differences of self and others as it relates to personal, community, and environmental health (without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity or expression, per NRS 651.070).
