With my students recovering from a year of distance learning, students need the opportunity to grow their skills at their level. Unlike ever before, over half my class is significantly below grade level. Providing reading resources for my students is essential to their success as readers.
My students need the time to practice what I teach them in class. By providing reading material at their individual levels, students can learn for themselves the excitement of reading and the success of completing each book. Our school provides the Accelerated Reading Program so students will be able to assess their understanding of their reading by taking reading quizzes.
Students need books at their level to help them grow their skills. Because I have so many students 2-3 years behind in their reading skills, my classroom would benefit from a larger class library. Having more books at lower levels will benefit students in their ability to have more choices of books to read and allow them to grow into more challenging books as their skills continue to grow. Scholastic books will benefit all students in my classroom by providing students with a leveled library.
