Greetings! My name is Mr. Stratman, and I teach 11th grade English at a collegiate high school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I am looking to expand my students' access to high quality classic and contemporary literature. My students face significant challenges in their personal lives and many come from low-income families. Despite these serious challenges, they bring everything they have to their studies and are always up for challenging themselves to become more advanced, unique readers and writers.
In addition to the reading materials I have already provided them, I would like to expand those materials to include both a class set of novels for assigned reading and a variety of literary works from across genres, time periods, and nationalities. My students have shown incredible initiative in wanting to expand their intellectual horizons, and I want to provide them with as many pathways as possible to prepare for the rigors of college, but also to become empowered, lifelong lovers of reading and knowledge.
Thank you so much for your support of literacy and literary education!
