My students have about 30 minutes of independent reading time each day. This time is reserved for students to read books they have chosen and are eager to read. One area of my classroom has some graphic novels, but I need more titles to get into the hands of my students. My students personally requested many of the titles I included.
During reading time, my students can't wait to dive into graphic novels. They love sharing the plots with their peers. I often have students asking if one of the books has been returned so they can begin reading it. I also have students say, "When I finish this book, _____________ wants it." They are well-loved, well-read, re-read, and shared. It makes my heart happy to see my students fall in love with reading.
