In order for students to focus in class, they need to be free of the distractions that that health and hygiene problems cause. These kits would help to alleviate those worries. Students also are absent and miss important learning time because of minor health and hygiene concerns and these kits will help to bring students back to class where they can learn.
Our health, hygiene, and laundry kits will be distributed to students as needed as well as given to all students who participate in our trauma intervention class for students who have experienced trauma during their journey to the United States. These students have recently arrived in the country and faced difficult experiences. In our class, we will teach the students techniques to cope with their emotional trauma as well as work with their parents to teach them how to support their children through this journey.
The families often arrive with only whatever items they are able to carry with them and lack a supply of health, hygiene, and laundry materials. Our kits will help ease their transition and help the students feel more comfortable at school and ready to learn.
