Teaching in a Spanish Dual Immersion setting can be difficult when it comes to finding resources. Finding books in Spanish for students to read is another challenge, especially finding books that grab their interest. My student's favorite literacy center is the library. Our classroom library is very limited giving my students very little options to choose from. I am hoping to add titles that reflect students' interests and cultures to our library. Having access to a variety of books in Spanish will help my students continue their journey towards bilingualism.
My students love reading, by having these books they can continue reading in Spanish and grow as learners.
By having the resources available in Spanish, I can expose my students to books that they enjoy reading and continue to practice their Spanish reading. I have a very diverse classroom and I would like my students to have access to books in Spanish that reflect their interest as well as their cultural identities.
