My project is focused on bringing equity to our campus through an authentic esports environment, allowing our learners to compete with other high schools in surrounding areas who have established programs. Our campus does not offer sports or many afterschool activities because of the nature of our campus, so the student body rallies behind the esports team.
The program was created two years ago and has since quadrupled in size, with several of our learners entering (or learning about) competitive gaming for the first time. Our student population mostly comes from an economically disadvantaged background and have no prior experience to gaming, let alone the world of esports. With our program growing in size, we designated a room for an esports lab and introduced an esports course where I will cover all concepts of the esports industry aside from gaming, such as marketing, coaching, managing, social media management, streaming, event planning and much more.
With the program gaining this much traction, several learners have heavily considered a career in the esports industry and/or business and marketing. Currently our lab is empty as we try to get furniture and technology capable of running all titles we compete in, which is where these chairs would be of great help! We would love for our learners to have the entire gaming experience when they enter our lab, along with sitting with great posture and support, and these chairs would do just that. Our teams have worked hard every year, making deep runs into the playoffs every season, this lab would be a great way to reward them for all of their hard work and results!
