These hands-on activities will be used in daily lessons and rotating centers for Nevada state learning objectives for phonics and word recognition and fluency, RF.K.3, 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d to help my kindergarten students learn and navigate in the post-COVID classroom. Many of my students missed out on being in pre-K last year due to COVID-19 shutdown in our district. This left students with very little experience as they walked into my kindergarten classroom. Allowing them to use reading games and puzzles to work through learning how to read will help them to feel like they are having fun while they are working. In math, using the counting manipulatives to work through Nevada state learning objectives for Counting and Cardinality including K.CC.A and B.
By teaching them to learn through play, they are getting amazing skills and lifelong loves of learning; I am so excited to introduce my students to the myriad of different manipulatives and hands-on activities we can learn to teach reading, writing, math, sharing, caring, and more!
