My vision for our school library is that it will be a place to inspire readers and a place for creativity and problem solving. One way I would like to help students explore and share their ideas is through the use of hands-on manipulatives.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and a renovation of our school building last year, students did not have access to the library or as many tactile learning experiences. Now that we are able to access the library, I want to make those experiences available for them again. Many students were virtual last year, and we spend a lot of time using technology throughout the day. Lessons that incorporate reading and then a hands-on problem solving and creative thinking activity will help students to be engaged through tactile exploration.
