These materials will help me to create a space in my office where students feel welcome, safe and most importantly, supported. The toys will allow for building relationships with students, which we know is incredibly important for their success within the school building. The fidgets and calming tools will be given to students as needed to help regulate their emotions. The books are especially important because they are culturally-responsive and representative of the students in my school, which helps to make students feel important and safe within the building.
By choosing to help in supporting this need, you will be directly responsible for creating a positive relationship between students and our school and also allow student services (school psychologist, school social worker, etc) to help students achieve emotional and social success both here at school and in the community.
