Students need hands on activities to grasp difficult concepts within the science fields. Learning science from a book or text is great to have in addition to hands on experiments. However, shouldn't be taught in isolation. Students at my school come from a variety of families including low income, foster, homeless, and families without college experience. This makes teaching science even more important! These students need to experience science and see it with their eyes!
The science field needs a wider representation of people like my students to help make the world a better place and these materials will give them motivation and knowledge to get there. These science materials will provide learning opportunities to students providing them with real world problems to solve. Solar houses and wind turbines will teach them about reusable energy, circuits and electricity gives them knowledge about simple machines, and the owl pellets will demonstrate digestion and ecosystems.
